Project Description

As hopefully all of you already know, this weekend is our Parish Picnic.  It’s always a really fun event, and a great chance to build community within our parish, so I hope you’re all able to make it.  It will start at noon and end at 2pm.

This year, this event will look a little different because of the construction project.  For starters, Brewfest will take place in a few weeks (September 7th – save the date!) instead of on the same weekend as the picnic this year.  We’ve also moved the picnic indoors to the school gym.  When you head down to the gym (either through the school or from the south entrance to the campus), you’ll see a Welcome Table right outside the gym, and all of the food will be served in the gym.  There will also be lots of outdoor games for the kids right outside the gym, and the playground is open for them, as well.  We’ll also have the always-popular Cake Walk, the proceeds from which will be given to our sister parish, Corpus Christi Parish in Jalchatra, Bangladesh.  It promises to be a really fun day; the construction-related changes should hurt the event at all!

A few other changes to keep in mind for the picnic:

  • Because we’ve moved indoors, we won’t be grilling corn and sausage. Instead we’ll serve Sloppy Joes in the gym.
  • As we’ve been announcing, there are no advance ticket sales this year. Instead, just show up at the gym!  We’re accepting freewill offerings at the door when you arrive.  (The suggested amount is $5 per adult, which will help us cover our costs.)
  • We’re also asking each family who attends to bring a dish, based on the first letter of your last name:

¨ A-I:  side salads

¨ J-Q:  side dishes

¨ R-Z:  desserts

*Please use disposable containers and utensils,

if possible

Many thanks to our team of parishioners who have been working throughout the summer to plan this event.  I am very grateful to have so many people who give their time and talent so freely to our parish.  See you at the picnic!
