At Christ the King we recognize the great value and importance of our children.  Not only are they great gifts to our life and community, they are the future of our community.  Therefore we work to provide opportunities for children of all ages and support of families as they work to raise faith-filled disciples of Christ!

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a hands-on Montessori-based approach to teaching our faith to parish and school children ages 3 – 9.

This unique, highly interactive, approach emphasizes Scripture and Liturgy and encourages children to develop a deeper understanding of our faith and relationship with God.

Parishioners are needed to make various catechetical materials for use by the children, including paper cut-outs, sewing, artistic drawing and painting, calligraphy and woodworking, but are particularly needed to attend sessions as catechist assistants and train to facilitate sessions as catechists. To learn more about this program and how to get your family involved, please contact Joanie Rymsza.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) is an age-appropriate Liturgy of the Word offered for ages 3-7 at the 8:45 AM Mass.

No pre-registration is necessary.  Just before the Liturgy of the Word begins for the assembly, the children are invited to come forward to the sanctuary to go with the weekly leaders from the church to the Lower Level.

During this special time, the volunteer team leads the children through prayers, songs and readings that are simplified for children. The children learn about the same Scripture readings as the rest of the assembly.  The readings and Gospel are proclaimed from a Children’s Lectionary. They are taught themain message of the readings and are encouraged to share that message with their parents after Mass.  The children are brought back to the church by the group leaders after the presider finishes the homily.

We are looking for adult leaders to proclaim the readings to the children and help them reflect on the readings.  Materials will be provided and a training session will also be scheduled to help prepare those who would like to participate in this ministry.  If you are interested, please contact Teresa Oross .  Or sign up through this link.

Our parish religious education program provides catechesis and faith formation to all parish youth who are not currently enrolled in Catholic school. Click here for more information!
