HI Parents,

This marks the second week Miss Kenesey has been full time in our classroom. She really loves spending time with your children! She has had so much fun getting to know each of them better. She started to teach math this week and will continue to take on more teaching responsibility as time goes on. Her time with us will go so quickly. She is only here at CTK through the month of February.

This week was full of writing! The students are really working hard on their autobiographies. Their memories are priceless!

We have also been working very hard on learning cursive. Please reinforce what the children are learning in school at home. The practice will really help. As soon as they know all of the lower case letters, they will learn how to write their cursive name. As soon as writing their name is perfected, they will be able to write their name in cursive on all of their papers. In three weeks we will start to write our spelling words in cursive. We will print the words first and then the children will have an opportunity to write them in cursive. We will only give credit to the printed word for a couple of weeks. We are gradually moving to writing in cursive on all assignments. The students are so excited about writing in cursive.

Thank you for working with your children in the Eucharist book. They are really looking forward to coming to the Lord’s Table and receiving the Eucharist. The children brought home the first activity sheet. It is due Thursday, February 28th.

Our 100th day of school is this Thursday, January 28th!! I can’t believe that 100  days of school have flown by! The second grade will celebrate with a 100 day shared snack. Please send in 100 of your child’s favorite snack or little treat. We will mix all the donations together to make one giant snack mix! Watch for a letter to come home on Monday with the information.

Your children brought home invitations to our Invite a Friend Visit Day. The visit day will be on Wednesday, February 3rd at 10:15 in the church basement. After we enjoy a snack, the children will share their classroom and all of their special projects with their guest.

Please stop by our Open House on Sunday, January 31st. This is the kick off to Catholic Schools’ Week. There is a great week planned so stay tuned for more information!
