Catechesis is the act of handing on the Word of God.  Christ the King offers quality catechesis for all children including those who are not currently enrolled in a Catholic school.  Religious Education classes meet on Sunday mornings.  Our catechists and coordinators are committed to reaching out to every child and helping them to grow in the knowledge and love of God!

If you would like to register your child in the Religious Education Program, please contact Linda Fitzpatrick  or Teresa Oross or call the Parish Office 272-3113 ext 312.   Classes begin September 29.  Registration begins at 8:30am in the school gym.

Family Faith and Religious Formation News:

Christ the King Parish invites those who do not attend a Catholic school to be a part of our Family Religious Formation and Education Program.  The program offers a variety of ways to engage families and students to deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith through service, prayer, liturgical celebrations and catechesis (handing on the Word of God) throughout the year.  Come join our community! Please call or e-mail Linda Fitzpatrick or Teresa Oross if you are interested or have any questions.

Religious Education

By |September 7th, 2013|

Dear friends,

For most of my life I have been a parishioner at Christ the King Parish.  I attended Sunday School (CCD) here at Christ the King, received my First Communion and Confirmation here.  I was involved in the Youth Ministry Program (The New Creation), and almost 35 years ago, was married to my wonderful husband in this place that I call home.  For over 25 years, I have been involved with the Religious Education Program as a catechist and Coordinator, a ministry that is very close to my heart.

Today at the 8:45am Mass, we joyfully commission ten parishioners as catechists in the Religious Education Program.  These wonderful people have dedicated themselves to spreading the good news of Jesus Christ to the students in our parish that attend public schools and are home schooled.  All of our Catechists have been involved in the Religious Education Program for over 5 years, and we have two catechists that have been involved in the program for more than 30 years!   Five of our Catechists have graduated from the diocesan two year Education for Ministry Program.

Our Catechists are entrusted with the important role of formally presenting the story of faith to our young people in a way that enables them to see and experience faith as a “living reality.”  They teach the doctrines and practices, while exploring the four pillars of the Catholic faith: Creed, Sacraments, Morality and Prayer on an age appropriate level.

We have many opportunities for prayer on Sunday mornings including a Living Rosary and Stations of the Cross.  We also encourage service and stewardship through support of our food pantry and the Women’s Care Center.

Religious Education classes begin September 22nd.  If your child was 4 years old […]

Confirmation

By |September 5th, 2013|

When we welcome the Holy Spirit into our hearts and allow him to act, Christ makes himself present in us and takes shape in our lives; through us, it will be he — Christ himself — who prays, forgives, gives hope and consolation, serves the brethren, draws close to the needy and to the least, creates community and sows peace. Think how important this is: by means of the Holy Spirit, Christ himself comes to do all this among us and for us. That is why it is important that children and young people receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. -Pope Francis, Wednesday Audience 1/29/2014

Confirmation preparation at Christ the King Parish begins during the students 7th grade year and continues into the fall of their 8th grade year. Once completing the necessary preparation, Confirmandi  receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in the fall of their 8th grade year. Preparation includes catechesis in the classroom, service, a retreat, guidance and formation from the Candidate’s Sponsor, and special events designed to help our students prepare to receive the graces of the Sacrament.  Questions regarding the Sacrament of Confirmation can be addressed by calling Teresa Oross at 272-3113 ext 312.  Please see below for the proper forms and information for Confirmation.
Confirmation will be celebrated on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 7:00 p.m.

Rehearsal for Confirmation will be Sunday, October 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the church.  Sponsors need to attend.  If a sponsor cannot attend, a parent must accompany the candidate. […]

Religious Education Living Rosary

By |October 18th, 2012|

During the month of October, the Catholic Church gives special attention to Life Issues and Mary, with the Feast of the Holy Rosary celebrated on October 7.   This past weekend, October 14, we celebrated by doing a “Living Rosary” where all children and adults from our Religious Education program said the entire Rosary together, focusing on the Glorious Mysteries:  the Resurrection, Ascension, Descent of the Holy Spirit, Assumption and Coronation.  A large rosary, made from colored paper plates and twine, was placed in the middle of the gym.  It represented the Rosary beads and the respective prayers that are prayed with each bead.  Students stood behind each rosary “bead” and led a Hail Mary.  A beautiful statue of the Blessed Mother was our focus in the middle of the circle.  Students colored pictures of Mary and they were displayed.  The students were very reverent throughout the entire, prayerful event.
