Much is needed to keep a parish vibrant and active.  Parishioners are needed to help with all aspects of parish life as together we strive to serve on another and the larger community of South Bend.  We remember that it is an essential part of our Christian mission, giving back to God the gifts that we have been given, through service and ministry to our community. Your time and talent helps keep our parish alive, healthy and thriving.

Parishioners serve with the pastoral team to reach out to those members of our community who have recently lost a loved one.

The Our Lady of Sorrows Bereavement Ministry is a one-one-one ministry that follows the model of Christ’s healing ministry, reach out to any parishioner experiencing loss.  Parishioners who have experienced loss are matched with an Our Lady of Sorrows Bereavement companion for bi-monthly one-on-one meetings in which they share conversation and prayer.  At Christ the King we recognize the need to walk together as a community through times of grief.

If you find yourself in need of this ministry please contact the parish office.

Parishioners volunteer their time to count the collection from weekend Masses. Each parishioner will be part of a team that is scheduled on a rotating schedule.
Christ the King has Doughnut Sunday the first Sunday of each month after the 7am, 8:45am and 10:30am Masses. This is a wonderful opportunity to join other parishioners downstairs for conversation and community over a warm cup of coffee and a delicious doughnut! Volunteers are needed to help coordinate and set-up each month.  Please contact Linda Fitzpatrick if you would like to volunteer for this ministry.
Funeral Luncheon volunteers provide hospitality to families after funeral Masses. Parishioners are needed to make phone calls for food donations, prepare food, and assist setting up, serving and cleaning up after the luncheon. As members of one body, we care for each other throughout all times of life, especially during times of grief. To volunteer please contact the parish office (574)272-3113.
Healthwin is a local nursing home. Parishioners are needed to wheel residents down to Sunday Mass and to minister as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. To volunteer, or for more information, please contact the parish office (574)272-3113.
Parishioners assist our office staff with general office duties (i.e. large mailings, stuffing bulletins, etc) on an as needed basis. Please contact Linda Fitzpatrick to volunteer.
Parishioners volunteer to wash and iron Christ the King’s sacristy laundry. Parishioners are added to a rotational schedule and are responsible for the laundry approximately every 6-8 weeks. This is a great ministry for some home-bound parishioners. They need to communicate with the office to arrange having the laundry picked up and dropped off in a timely manner. For more information, or to volunteer, please contact Linda Fitzpatrick.

Sacristy Laundry Schedule April – August 2021

Have you ever wondered how our sanctuary and sacristy remain so beautiful and clean? This is due to the hard work and dedication of our Sacristy Cleaners! Parishioners volunteer their time to do light cleaning (dusting, vacuuming, etc) of the sacristy and sanctuary. Parishioners are on a rotating schedule and clean approximately 2-3 times a year. This is a great job for the whole family! You know what they say, many hands makes light work. To volunteer, please contact Linda Fitzpatrick.
