Parish Life Ministries
Much is needed to keep a parish vibrant and active. Parishioners are needed to help with all aspects of parish life as together we strive to serve on another and the larger South Bend community. We remember that it is an essential part of our Christian mission to give back to God from the gifts that we have been given, all through service and ministry within our community. Your time and talent helps keep our parish alive, healthy, and thriving!
Parishioners provide childcare at various parish events throughout the year.
Parishioners volunteer their time to count the collection from weekend Masses. Each parishioner will be part of a team that is scheduled on a rotating schedule for Sunday mornings.
Funeral luncheon volunteers provide hospitality to families after funeral Masses. Parishioners are needed for a variety of tasks—making phone calls for food donations, preparing and delivering food (salads and desserts), assisting with setup of the church basement, serving food, and cleaning up after the luncheon. Training is provided for those who are able to serve as funeral luncheon coordinators. As members of one body, we care for each other throughout all times of life, especially during times of grief.
Healthwin is a nearby nursing facility where we celebrate Mass every Sunday at 10:00 AM. Volunteers push residents in wheelchairs from their rooms to and from Mass. Extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion are also needed to assist the priest at Mass and bring the Body of Christ to residents who remain in their rooms.
HASA is an umbrella group for all extra-curricular and fundraising activities within the school. All school parents are encouraged to serve on committees during the school year and to be available for other occasional needs. Find out more through the HASA Facebook page.
Married couples assist in the formation of engaged couples preparing for the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony. Sponsor couples typically meet with each engaged couple two to three times at home and work with one or two couples per year. Training is provided for all new sponsor couples.
Parishioners assist our parish office staff with general office duties, such as large mailings and stuffing bulletins, on an as-needed basis.
Parishioners volunteer to wash and iron Christ the King’s sacristy laundry. Parishioners are on a rotating schedule and are responsible for the laundry approximately every six to eight weeks. This is a great ministry for families and even homebound parishioners. Volunteers should communicate with the parish office to arrange having the laundry picked up and dropped off in a timely manner.
Have you ever wondered how our sanctuary and sacristy remain so beautiful and clean? This is due to the hard work and dedication of our sacristy cleaners! Parishioners volunteer their time to do light cleaning (dusting, vacuuming, etc.) of the sanctuary and sacristy. Parishioners are on a rotating schedule and clean approximately two to three times per year. This is a great job for the whole family—many hands makes light work!
Parishioners restock and maintain the votive candles in the back of the church. Volunteers typically serve once per week after an 8:30 AM weekday Mass.
